Is Business A Good Career For You?

is business a good career 207x300 Is Business A Good Career For You?For students and recent graduates who are interested in a business career, asking some tough questions is an important part of the decision-making process. You must determine if business is for you. After all, it is very demanding in terms of both time and personal energy, and you should find out if you really want to go into this field before embarking upon the career training track. Ask yourself these questions:

  1. Can I recognize success? A lot of business is based upon working for a goal, then reevaluating action once it has been achieved. It is important to know when you have achieved  a goal so that you don’t waste energy where it isn’t needed. Are you the sort of person who knows when you have accomplished a goal and is willing to let it go and move on to something else?
  2. What is your biggest fear? Even if your greatest fear is public speaking, that doesn’t preclude a business career. It is important, however, to know your greatest fear and face it. Be willing to work on that shortcoming. It may turn out to be your greatest asset in the end. If you aren’t ready to face your fears, however, the challenging world of business may not be for you.
  3. Do you think strategically? You must be able to plan and execute strategies and you must have an organized and efficient mind. Business is no place for being scatterbrained or a non-linear thinker. If you do think this way, there are many excellent careers out there that will be more appropriate for you.

No matter what the answers to the above questions, you must ensure that answering them make you more, not less, excited about pursuing business as a career. If so, you are surely on your way.
