Getting a bachelor degree in business administration is a great start along the path to becoming a top executive. If you are able to get into a well-respected school, you will find that getting that initial degree enables you to gain internships and participate in many other activities that reinforce your interest in business. However, bachelor’s degrees are not ranked, like MBA degrees. For this reason, going all the way through to an MBA will give you far more prestige as a job applicant.
Is an MBA more expensive? No doubt, it is. It also requires at least two more years of academic work, but compare that to what you would be doing for two years if you get your first job after receiving a bachelor’s in business only. You would be working hard to build your reputation and gain financial bonuses and raises. If you play your cards right, spending two years receiving an MBA instead could land a first job that is solidly in the six-figure range, where you will feel as though you have already “arrived” with far less need to prove yourself.
